Shameek Speight “The Pleasure of Pain” A Review

In this twisted tale you will be introduced to Tess, Iris, Vanessa, Ebony and Bless who find out that The Pleasure of Pain is a true testament that we always want what we shouldn’t have. Tess is a strong determined business woman by the day and queen of the streets by night. She will stop at nothing to get the life she wants for herself and her three best friends along with her man, even if it means breaking old bonds and creating lifetime enemies. What she doesn’t realize is in the game of cut- throat there are no rules. Bless emerges on the scene after being recently released from prison only to find that things are not the way they were before he got locked up. The worst part is the person he has to fight is the person he least expected would betray him. He is out for blood and hell bent on destroying anyone who gets in his way. Iris is secretly in love with Tess, but plays the friend card in order to get closer to her. She knows that Tess is in love with another man, however that doesn’t stop her from plotting to get Tess’ heart. Vanessa and Ebony are sisters who share the same father and they happen to be Tess’ top lieutenants. Their loyalty and love run deep for Tess and has never been questioned until now… With pleasure there is always a little pain as Tess and her girlfriends will soon find out. Will they break under pressure or will they show why women rule the world?
First off lets just say this book was all that and more.

 I enjoyed this book. Shameek Speight outdid himself. I was expecting this author to be a woman and was surprised it was a man. For an male he did a great job portraying these women. From the first page I was hooked. The set up of the book was just great there was no unnecessary information or spot filling in the book.


This story had me on the edge of my seat! It was full of action. It was a little heavy on the sex scenes but if you can get over that, is definitely worth the read. Bless a young hot drug dealer in the right place at the right time meets a young Tess & Iris and quickly become friends things go wrong not long after and that’s when thing pop off  and the Crew is formed. As Bless is Released from prison he has a feeling things are not right. Secrets, Love, and Lust are all the things this book holds Shameek does not hold back . I really want to wright more but its so many little things that can be called spoilers. This book was 5 stars and I automatically 1 clicked part 2

Duffle Bag Bitches 2 brings back all of your favorite characters from the first book with even more twists and turns.  Dallas returns with a new mission to pull off with the help of the Duffle Bag Boys and Duffle Bag Bitches.  Will Zane and Shannon’s new love be able to handle the stress of their lifestyle?  Has Nisha learned to follow directions?  More importantly who is working with the police and why?  Join the crew on this roller coaster ride in the most anticipated sequel of the year.


This book starts right where it left off in the middle of all the drama, just how I like my books.  Zane, the irresistible THUG with a heart, is on the wrong end of a gun while the crew is partying, but things are not what they seem.  Life is going well until secrets are ready to come out and some one is coming for revenge.  Shannon & Zane are Happy, Jay and her new boo and trying to start a life of their own.  Dizzy is taking care of the past that continues to haunt him.  Jas is dealing with her husband and his trust issues while Nisha is kissing ass.  Cash is finally moving on with his life until a ghost from the past reappears.   Mack is dead or so the crew thinks?


Things get heated, the crew is second guessing each other and love is lost.  Boom – the book take you on a wild ride.  I am so happy I was loaned this book, it was 5 stars from page one to the end.  I completely fell in love with the characters one in particular stole my heart “Dizzy”.  There are a few errors and mistakes but don’t let that take away from the story, Alicia Howard is a Talented writer with a capital T.  This book is a must have.  If you know, like I know, BankRoll Squad puts out nothing but FIRE and they do it with ease.  I’m patiently waiting on the 3rd book, hopefully its not the last in this series.

But sometimes you can’t send a man to do a woman’s job.  Dallas set out to find a different breed of bitch.  Not the kind that lie down and spread them wide to eat, but the kind that blew your fucking head off and took what the fuck she needed to survive.  He had to train them well though so they would know he was the master.  If he didn’t one of them bitches might bite him and takeover his whole operation.

Shannon, Jasmine, Nisha, and Jay Baby are his thorough-breds.  These women are headed to a world much bigger than what they were use to.  Will money change them?  Are they in over their heads dealing with Dallas?  Can Dallas be trusted?  Find out what happens when love, money, and trust gets tangled up in this gripping street masterpiece.

Ms. Howard did her “THANG” on this one.  This is the story of four young women down for their paper by any means necessary.  They are quickly put on the team by squad leader, Dallas Palmer, after proving to be Down For The Cause to him.

Things seem to go wrong when Dallas has an assignment for the crew to go to South Carolina.  One of the girls fall for the intended target or does she?  All hell Breaks loose and shit hits the fan.  Relationships are severed and trust is broken, love is lost and the squad is angry.  The Duffle Bag Boys & Bitches are put to the test with one thing in mind – get money.

A page turner from the beginning to the very end.  I’m so glad I didn’t sleep on this author.  Looking forward to the sequel and any other books from this author.  Duffle Bag Bitches was entertaining and hard to put down.  A good read with a surprising twist.  Suspense and humor combined.  Five Stars in my book.
